Between my Ghost Gifts trilogy and other books, I’ve published eight novels. Author? Maybe. In truth, I’m a girl from Long Island who fell in love with the South and ended up calling New England home. Along the way, ideas emerged, leading to the titles noted on this website.

To my surprise, Ghost Gifts—a story that turned up as mysteriously as the apparitions within—became a #1 bestseller. The book went on to numerous awards and accolades, and the publisher asked if I would write two more Ghost Gifts books. I remain humbled by reader reaction and the desire to hear more of Aubrey Ellis’s story, found on the pages of Foretold and Echo Moon.

Not all my novels are about ghosts, though I seem to have a good relationship with the ethereal world. Unstrung offered a change of pace for me and readers. The mainstream women’s fiction novel met with solid critical acclaim, including a starred review from Publishers Weekly and was named to PW’s seasonal list of most anticipated and notable titles. I hope readers are as taken with quirky and capricious Olivia Klein as I was; I had the most marvelous time writing about her.

I live not far outside Boston with my long-time other half, Matt, and three adult children—a nurse, a prosecutor, and an actor. Like my books, they are as different as they are the same. Even so, it’s two dogs and two cats that rule this roost. Auggie is vying for his closeup in the photo! Life takes place in a 130-year-old house where I can always be found writing my next novel. As always, I love to hear from readers and visit with book clubs. Feel free to drop me a line here, and many thanks for reading a Laura Spinella novel!
