Unstrung is my sixth published novel. Author? Maybe. In truth, I’m a girl from Long Island who fell in love with the South and ended up calling New England home. Along the way, ideas emerged, leading to the stories I’ve told, and Unstrung is among my favorites. As a graduate of the University of Georgia, the atmosphere of Athens inspired my first novel, Beautiful Disaster—a RITA finalist and my foray into romantic fiction.
Ghost Gifts is my middle-child novel. Its ethereal edge inspired some earthly magic; the book resonated with readers and was named a 2017 RITA finalist. Part mystery and part romance, Ghost Gifts debuted as a Kindle 1st and held the #1 spot in Kindle Nation for nearly the entire month of February. Positive reader response has turned one book into three; book two, Foretold, releases October 24, 2017. The final installment is set for 2018.
Right now, it’s Unstrung’s turn to entertain readers—a largely different story than Ghost Gifts. We’re off to a good start with a starred review from Publishers Weekly. Unstrung was also named to PW’s list of spring’s most anticipated and notable titles. I hope readers are as taken with quirky and capricious Olivia Klein as I was; I had the most marvelous time writing about her.
I live not far outside Boston with a husband, three technically grown children, two dogs and two cats. That’s Auggie in the photo! Life takes place in a 130-year-old house where I can always be found writing my next novel. As always, I love to hear from readers; feel free to drop me a line here, and many thanks for reading a Laura Spinella novel!
